DOJ Pride and the Department’s Equal Employment Opportunity Staff are co-sponsoring a brownbag lunch on same-sex domestic partner benefits with Robert Shriver, Senior Policy Counsel, Office of Personnel Management, on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 in the Andretta Room. Although many benefits available to opposite-sex spouses of federal employees are also available to same-sex spouses or domestic partners of LGBT federal employees, some important benefits – like health insurance and survivor annuity – are not. Come learn what benefits are currently available to same-sex spouses/partners of federal employees, why certain benefits have not been extended to same-sex spouse/partners, and the status of legislative efforts to obtain equal benefits for all federal employees.
