Today the Department of Justice celebrated its LGBTQI+ Pride Month Observance. Featured speakers included Kristen Clarke, Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division, and Michael A. Hughes, Director of INTERPOL. Jessica Stern, Special Envoy to Advance the Human Rights of LGBTQI+ Persons, Bureau of Human Rights, Democracy, and Labor, U.S. Department of State, delivered keynote remarks. Special Envoy Stern oversees the implementation of the February 4, 2021 Presidential Memorandum on Advancing the Human Rights of LGBTQI+ Persons Around the World. Ms. Stern has also served as Executive Director of OutRight Action International, where she worked on global issues involving gender, sexuality, and human rights.
